Press Release
CREDANT Expands Its Portfolio with Full Disk Encryption
Protect data anytime, anywhere, anyhow – it's up to you, CREDANT's got it all covered
DALLAS/LONDON, April [20] 2010 - CREDANT Technologies, the market leader in endpoint data protection solutions, today announced it has added CREDANT FDE DriveManager to its portfolio. With this new addition, CREDANT gains the enviable position of offering its customers complete flexibility to protect data wherever it is, however they want in what ever manner they choose to meet their specific endpoint needs, varied as they may be - all managed from a central management console that gives enterprise level auditing and reporting capabilities essential to businesses today.
CREDANT FDE DriveManager fortifies the trusted Seagate Momentus® self-encrypting 2.5 inch hard drives with built-in full disk encryption. This fully automated self-encrypting disk protects organisations from data loss due to a stolen or lost computer through remote management, pre-boot strong authentication and remote destruction. With self-encrypting drives, user passwords are not stored in the drive memory so password signatures are totally inaccessible after computer shut down, further safeguarding the data from unauthorised users. Repurposing and retirement of computers and hard drives is easy and eliminates the risk of exposing sensitive information as administrators can send a device wipe message to erase all of the keys from the drive and prevent any access to the data – forever.
"Self-encrypting hard drives continue to gain momentum in the marketplace and for good reason," said Tom Major, Senior Vice President of Product Line Management & Sales Operations, at Seagate. "We are excited to be working with CREDANT to offer the market, and our mutual customers, a complete encryption platform they can use to protect their valuable data and ensure compliance with both data encryption and breach notification regulations as more of these laws are enacted to help protect sensitive consumer, business and government information."
"With the addition of FDE DriveManager, Seagate Momentus' self-encrypting drives, our portfolio enables customers to choose intelligent policy based data encryption at a device, user or group level; to choose software based full disk encryption, or to take advantage of the emergence of hardware based self encrypting drives, where the remote management, pre-boot strong authentication and remote destruction will aid in organisation's data protection needs, unique environments and specific circumstances" explains Chris Burchett, CREDANT's Chief Technology Officer and co-founder.
CREDANT FDE DriveManager provides centralised management to allow IT professionals to manage security policies, enforce compliance and produce management reports across multiple hardware configurations and operating systems. If preferred, it is also offered in a standalone mode that does not require a centralised management server.
In addition, CREDANT also confirmed the launch of CREDANT FDE for Windows. A highly scalable centralised policy-driven full disk encryption solution for PCs, laptops, notebooks and tablets that is easily deployed to provide unparalleled protection for data at rest or in use. Administered centrally, it provides remote management capabilities and extensive auditing and reporting features on devices deployed throughout the enterprise. The pre-boot authentication feature enforces policy-driven access control that is checked immediately when the hard drive powers up enabling the device to be locked at pre-boot if required, thereby preventing unauthorised users from logging on to the machine. As further security, an administrator can send a cryptographic erase message that disables the encryption keys destroying data on lost or stolen devices.
Based on experience with hundreds of successful deployments, CREDANT solutions achieve the right balance of protection and usability critical to a successful data security program deployment. The key is to manage risk with a solution that provides security and manageability that's appropriate - by now offering both software and hardware flavours of full disk encryption (FDE), in addition to our patented, policy based, data encryption solutions CREDANT has got it all covered.
